Electrical Engineering Department Head

Employee shall report directly to President of Engineering, Fagen Engineering, LLC |
| |
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Schedule activities and resources for power systems group
- Assist in defining job descriptions and recruitment of employees for power systems group
- Develop scope of services and negotiate contracts with subcontracted engineering design firms
- Evaluate performance of subcontracted engineering design firms
- Organize and lead scheduling meetings with power systems group
- Develop electrical distribution design and specifications for medium and low voltage systems
- Perform electrical system analysis including short circuit studies, coordination studies and arc flash studies
- Perform lighting calculations and develop lighting design and specifications
- Develop motor loop drawings
- Develop instrumentation loop drawings
- Interpret and apply applicable national electrical code articles, building codes and life safety codes to system design and specifications
- Assist in review of shop drawings
- Assist in the development and implementation of CADD standards
- Review, stamp and sign design documents prepared by you and others working under your direct supervision
- Provide project management and supervision of subcontracted engineering design firms
- Mentor and educate electrical designers and electrical EIT’s
- Identify and develop techniques to improve department efficiency and performance
- Conduct site visits and perform walk through to develop punch lists
REQUIRED
SKILLS :
- Positive attitude and willingness to work together with management, other employees, clients, vendors and field craft supervisors
- Working knowledge of AutoCad
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Working knowledge of Lotus Notes
- Ability to learn and utilize other engineering software programs for lighting design, heat trace design and electrical system analysis
- Bachelor
of Science in Electrical Engineering
- Registered
